L’eroica means “the heroes” and was founded by a Tuscan man who loved cycling and how much it connected to Italy’s history and heritage. The original Eroica ride is in Tuscany on the old gravel paths, but four friends brought it to the Peak District National Park, and is now one of the largest cycling festivals in the Eroica network.
The three-day fitness festival celebrates everything cycling and the heritage and conservation of the landscape, alongside good food, music, and vendors of quality clothing and products. It’s a family-friendly, community based event, shown with their youngest rider being 5 years old and the oldest 89! The only caveats to the event is that you must ride a pre-1987 bike and wear vintage-style clothing to get the true, authentic experience of riding around the incredible trails. This weekend is for true cycling fans and those who appreciate the spirit of conservation and nostalgia around a great part of British culture.
There are three main rides over these fitness festivals: 30, 60, and 100 miles. All riders and types of bikes are encouraged to do the 30, but their 100 mile ride is the big draw of the event. The route takes riders across the very best of the Peak District, climbing up to 1700ft above sea-level for incredible views and unmatched scenery - this will be one of the most unique and unforgettable rides of your life. Your rider entry fee also includes food and drink at perfectly planned pit stops along the way to make sure you’re rested and refuelled so that you can make it to the finish line.
As one of the most unique fitness festivals in the UK, this is definitely not one to miss for those who love cycling.

What do fitness festivals involve?
Incase you skimmed through the article and only read over a few of the festivals that caught your eye, we'll give you a holistic view of what fitness festivals involve.
Some fitness festivals, such as the Om Yoga festival, are more specified and are organised around particular sports or exercises and will generally include more classes, vendors, and events that feature these. For example, the Om Yoga show has workshops such as the ‘Practical yoga for self-care’.
Other more general fitness festivals involve a much broader spectrum of classes, workshops, stalls, events, and activities to appeal to everyone. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what they involve as they can vary, but if you take a look at some of the more general festivals above you'll soon get a good idea of what to expect!
Are fitness festivals for beginners?
Incase you hadn't already picked up on this, while some festivals are geared towards those that have at least some experience in a particular field of fitness, for the most part they are pretty open to newcomers.
After all, the festivals themselves are usually set up as a means to bring more awareness about the world of fitness or a certain area of it, and this involves getting new people involved. You should check out the FAQs of the festival that you're interested in attending if you want to know this for certain, and if you want to find out more about their ethos and values, but we have never heard of beginners being excluded from an event.
When are fitness festivals taking place?
The majority of fitness festivals take place in the spring or summer months here in the UK, and all of the events mentioned on our list have been rescheduled to take place in 2021.
If a certain festival has caught your eye, be sure to keep an eye on their social media channels and their website for updates on this, incase anything changes.
Before you go!
We know that you’re already emailing your boss asking for next year's holiday dates so that you can book your next fitness festival experience, whether that’s a yoga event, more holistic health and fitness festivals, a specific women’s fitness festival or a festival tailored around cycling.
Keep an eye out for changing dates and ticket prices, as some offer early-bird discounts!
