#1 - Linkax Rechargeable Head Torch for Running

Price: £9.99

For our first product in the search for the best running head torch of 2019, we have this rechargeable running head torch from Linkax. As you can see, it’s a #1 best seller on the platform, which sets it off to a great start.

It has a lumens of 150 and a range of 100m, which isn’t too shabby for a cheap running head torch.

There are 3 different white light modes which consist of high, low and flashing, and 2 red light modes which are steady and SOS. This means you get a good deal of customisation for the modest price of £9.99!

You’ll also be glad to know that the headband is adjustable, as is the angle of the lamp itself. It tilts up to 60-degrees, meaning that you can control where you wish the beam to sit.

It holds an impressive 94% positive reviews out of 187 ratings to date on Amazon, which is a considerably high number for a product on the platform.

Features:

  • 150 lumens
  • 100m visibility range
  • USB rechargeable
  • 3 different light modes
  • Adjustable
  • Waterproof
  • One-year warranty

#2 - Petzl Running Headlamp

Price: £54.99

The first thing you’ll notice about this running head torch is its aesthetic design. It’s a lot less ‘clunky’ than some of its counterparts, and it’s the kind of product that would have you running back to the store with the one you’d just bought so that you could exchange them…

Not to mention, Petzl is a pretty big and well-trusted brand in the U.S. if that means anything to you. If you’re into buying branded stuff when stocking up on fitness gear, then this could be the product for you.

The product is rechargeable as well as being battery-powered (compatible with AAA batteries), which makes it a hybrid design! This is brilliant for those of us who are forgetful and wouldn't mind having multiple power options.

It has 100% positive reviews out of 43 customer ratings to date on Amazon where it is also sold, which is pretty magnificent for a running head torch on the platform. It’s often praised for its slick design and high-quality, which we can safely say stands the test of time. If you’re looking for the best head torch for night running then this could be your saving grace!

Features:

  • 450 lumens (max)
  • Pocket-size
  • Rechargeable/Battery-powered (hybrid design)
  • Red/White light options

#3 - OMERIL LED Head Torch

Price: £10.99

We get particularly excited when we see products that come in a 2-pack, especially when they’re the same price as those that come as one…

It’s even better when those products are good-quality in spite of this, and this is exactly the case with the OMERIL running head torch set!

Aside from the fact that it runs on AAA batteries which may be a disadvantage to some, it still comes with 150 lumens, which is more than many of its more expensive counterparts have.

It has 3 different light modes including high, low and flashing (S.O.S.), which is pretty decent for a head torch for running listed at £9.99 (for 2 as well!).

OMERIL should be proud of themselves for achieving 96% positive reviews out of 337 customer ratings so far, as this kind of statistic is achieved by very few products of its kind.

Features:

  • 150 lumens
  • Battery-powered
  • 3 different light modes
  • Adjustable
  • Comes as a 2-pack

#4 - RING LED Head Torch

Price: £5.99

A beam projection of up to 57m for under £10 isn't too bad in our search for the best head torch for trail running (as well as for regular running use), especially since things can get pretty dark without street lighting.

There is also a flashing red light mode for use in the case of emergencies, which is brilliant for the price; cheap running head torches usually come with one lighting mode!

Despite the incredibly low price of £5.99, the product has an operating time of up to 8 hours, plus batteries are included in the box so that you can make use of it straight after unboxing.

Features:

  • 87 lumens
  • 2 different light modes
  • Batteries Included
  • Adjustable

#5 - Petzl e+LITE

Price: £17.99 (was £26.00)

A great example of a cheap running head torch is this product from Petzl, which retails at £17.99 on Wiggle. It may not have the lowest price on our list, but it is certainly a bargain considering the brand name!

The product is extremely lightweight, as you'll be able to see in the picture. It only weighs 26g, which is pretty impressive and certainly useful if you don't want the 'clunky' feel that some of the cheaper products have.

Do you ever take a run when temperatures are extreme? Not to worry! This product can actually withstand temperatures ranging from -30 degrees all the way up to 60+... you can't beat that often for a head torch of this price.

Features:

  • 50 lumens
  • Rechargeable
  • 2 different light modes
  • Lightweight (26g)
  • Adjustable
  • Waterproof

#6 - Black Diamond Storm 375 Lumen Headlamp

Price: £50.00

This product from Black Diamond sets the bar high by coming with 4 different high-quality light modes. They include 3 different night-vision modes, including a white light peripheral vision mode that improves safety and efficiency when completing close-range activities.

The interface has also been improved since the release of earlier models from the brand, as a second button has been added to make switching between light modes much easier than it was before. Trust us, this makes a big difference when you're out on the road!

Features:

  • 375 lumens
  • 3 different light modes
  • Adjustable
  • Waterproof
  • Dustproof

#7 - Blue Mountain Headtorch 1W- Amazon’s Choice product

Price: £6.00 (was £8.50)

Another cheap running head torch on our list is the Blue Mountain Headtorch 1W model, which certainly lives up to its name for the price!

At £6.00 the lamp boasts 80 lumens and a beam visibility range of up to 25 metres, which we can’t find fault with in our search for the best head torch for night running on a budget.

There are 3 different power modes, 100%, 80% and 50% to improve battery life and efficiency depending on how much light input you need at a given time. The flashing mode is also useful, especially if you want to improve visibility when running along the roadside!

The light itself can be adjusted through a 45-degree angle, which is a nice extra feature considering the price.

Features:

  • 80 lumens
  • 25m visibility range
  • Battery-powered (3 x AAA batteries included)
  • 4 hours of battery life
  • Adjustable

#8 - Ledlenser NEO6R Head Torch

Price: £44.95

One of the first things you’ll notice about this product is that the main white spotlight happens to reach up to 240 lumens, which we certainly can’t fault seeing as though some of its competitors offer less for a higher price.

It comes with rechargeable batteries which only take 4 hours to charge, so you don't have to worry about skipping your night run due to lack of charge. If you’re not one for devices that can’t be charged, then you should add this to your list of maybes!

The beam reaches a max distance of 30m and a minimum distance of 10m, so it's easy to switch things up depending on your surroundings. Sometimes you'll want to focus on the distance, but other times you'll want to keep the focus on what's directly in front of you, so it's good to know that you have this option.

Features:

  • 240 lumens
  • 30m beam distance (max)
  • Rechargeable
  • Adjustable

#9 - Petzl ACTIK Head Torch

petzl head torch blue and navy

Price: £42.99

We couldn’t complete a list of running head torch reviews without mentioning another Petzl product. After all, they’re probably the most popular brand out there when it comes to this niche!

The headband itself is actually reflective, complementing the red-light feature and providing you with that extra safety measure. Honestly, we don’t think we’ve listed a single product that feels as safe as this one!

We’d certainly recommend giving it a look, especially if you want a long-lasting and high-quality product that has dual compatibility with either batteries or rechargeable batteries!

Features:

  • 350 lumens
  • 3 different light modes
  • Dual compatibility; battery or rechargeable battery
  • Reflective
  • Adjustable

#10 - Quark Rechargeable Head Torch

Price: £32.99

Last but not least on our search for the ultimate trail running head torch is this stunning product from ALPKIT, the Quark head torch.

Let’s start with the lumens. We were absolutely stunned to discover that this product packs an impressive 580 lumens for the price. This is definitely an advantageous feature that stands it apart from most of its competitors!

The torch itself can also be adjusted around 90-degrees for beam optimisation, so you can point the light in pretty much any direction! It's rare we see this feature across such a wide-angle.

The product has an IPX6 water resistance rating which is better than most. While it cannot be submerged in water (which we fully understand), it can take a beating from rain which makes it a strong competitor in the search to find the best head torch for trail running.

Features:

  • 580 lumens
  • Rechargeable and compatible with AAA batteries (hybrid design)
  • Water-resistant (IPX6 rating)
  • Adjustable
