The CPD Boxing & Pad Work course at OriGym covers the fundamentals of a real boxer’s training programme, including cardiovascular fitness and speed. The course provides guidance to help you gain a sound understanding of punching technique and the use of pads as part of a regular fitness training programme.
Completing the course will equip you with a wide range of skills with multiple applications, enabling you to widen your gym instructing or personal training offering, enhance your employability and increase your earning potential.

Entry Requirements: Level 2 Gym Instructor. Students must also be aged 16+.

In order to deliver effective exercise plans implementing boxing techniques and pad work drills, you’ll be taken through an intensive day of training covering a wide range of activities.
This brief module will introduce you to the history of boxing as a sport and exercise methodology, explaining both the amateur and professional side of the sport, the different types and categorisation of boxers and the varying styles of boxing.
This module covers everything from running boxing specific warm-up drills through to the various pieces of equipment used for boxing and pad work exercise. You’ll also learn about different types of guards, stances and footwork employed by boxers.
This practical session introduces the correct techniques for six basic punches and the appropriate pad work for each. It also covers the development of punch combinations and how to encourage your clients to develop their own combinations.
This practical module will teach you how to deliver a range of different drills employing boxing techniques and pad work, utilising a range of equipment introduced in previous modules.
The boxing and pad work course ends with a 1-hour long observational assessment where you will be tasked with demonstrating your knowledge of various boxing techniques, building combinations and your ability to deliver these to students of your own.
This CPD course is delivered on one full day, during a face-to-face workshop at one of our twelve nationwide venues.
All of our CPD fitness courses are endorsed and accredited by REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals), CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity), and PD Approval.
Students seeking to take specialised CPD fitness courses should hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification at the minimum. Students will also need to be aged 16 years or older to enrol.
This course covers the essential knowledge required to deliver effective boxing and pad work sessions for your fitness clients, assisting them to develop their boxing technique and build stamina.
Topics covered include the history and development of boxing, how to warm-up and prepare for boxing exercise, punching and pad work techniques and how to run pad work conditioning drills.
CPD Fitness courses are assessed through an observed assessment on the day of attendance. You will need to demonstrate your skill and competence in front of a qualified teacher and assessor who will lead your training.
