Training multiple clients at once requires flawless communication, motivation and patience, as well as the ability to tailor work-out plans for multiple individuals at once. OriGym’ CPD Group Exercise Training course will help you understand the demands of group training sessions and how to structure successful, enjoyable and rewarding sessions for groups of up to six people.
Accredited by both REPS and CIMSPA, completing this course will also provide you with CPD points towards your professional membership status.

In order to be an effective Group Training instructor, you’ll need to be equipped with a wide range of skills and abilities for effective planning, as well as being able to demonstrate movements and lead clients through regimes. During your intensive one-day Group Training workshop, you’ll cover topics such as:
As a workshop group, you’ll discover and discuss the benefits of group training for trainers, clients and businesses, and what does or does not constitute group training.
This module explores the three phases of group training and how your knowledge of the power pyramid relates to each phase. You’ll also learn about the concept and types of periodisation for group training
During this part of the CPD workshop, you’ll learn about the 16 session periodised plan designed to cover four weeks of training, implementing progression and identifying where combinations fit into the plan.
This practical module explains the reasoning behind combinations and their effectiveness as part of the 16 session plan. You’ll explore and participate in combinations and tests including cardio vs clock, mini triathlons and more.
The group training CPD course ends with a 45-minute long observational assessment where you will be tasked with demonstrating your knowledge of group training through practical delivery of a combination and 16 session personalised plan.
This CPD course is delivered on one full day, during a face-to-face workshop at one of our twelve nationwide venues.
All of our CPD fitness courses are endorsed and accredited by REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals), CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity), and PD Approval.
Students seeking to take specialised CPD fitness courses should hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification at the minimum. Students will also need to be aged 16 years or older to enrol.
This course covers the essential knowledge required to deliver effective group training sessions for your fitness clients, assisting them to develop their stamina and achieve their fitness goals.
Topics covered include the benefits of group training for clients and trainers, periodisation and the phases of training, the 16 session periodised group training plan, as well as combinations and fitness tests.
CPD Fitness courses are assessed through an observed assessment on the day of attendance. You will need to demonstrate your skill and competence in front of a qualified teacher and assessor who will lead your training.
