In order to excel as an ETM instructor, you’ll need to be able to inspire groups to push themselves to the limit, use creativity and imagination to plan effective and enjoyable classes, and tailor your programmes to the needs and interests of each of your exercise to music groups.

You will learn how to plan, teach, deliver and evaluate a range of ETM sessions. You will discover how to adapt to differing music styles, working to the beat and rhythm, and developing experience in both free-style dance movements and popular pre-choreographed sessions such as Les Mills and Zumba.
During the course you’ll develop valuable core skills required to instruct classes inclusive of, or specifically designed for special populations, including children, elderly, disabled and postnatal populations.
Understanding how the body works is fundamental to successful training. This course will provide you with the necessary knowledge to keep your ETM training plans safe and effective, covering the heart and circulatory, respiratory, and digestive systems.
You’ll develop an in-depth understanding of the principles of exercise, including effective warm-up/cool-down exercises, cardiovascular activities, and the importance of healthy eating and exercise.
Safety is paramount in fitness environments. As such you’ll learn how to identify and control risk factors, how to appropriately safeguard children and vulnerable adults, and what emergency procedures exist within a fitness environment.
To qualify with your Level 2 Exercise to Music qualification, you will be required to complete a selection of assessments. Practical assessments are run every month from each of our twelve nationwide locations whilst exams and coursework are completed through our online learning platform, “Student Zone”.

The theory papers for the ETM course include some featured in our Level 2 Gym Instructor course, therefore students who have already gained these qualifications would be exempt from any theory papers they have already completed. The coursework and final practical assessment would still be required.
OriGym’s Exercise to Music course is available to study through part-time, blended learning, combining OriGym’s award-nominated online learning portal with expert in-person tuition at one of our 12 nationwide venues.

As online learning is self-paced, students can take as little or as long as they wish to complete the programme. No prior qualifications are required to study the Level 2 Exercise to Music programme, which has been designed as an entry-level qualification into the fitness industry. A basic level of maths and English will be required to understand some course content. Also as practical elements are involved a basic knowledge and level of physical fitness will be necessary and students must be aged 16 years or older in order to enrol.
